So you will ask me..what they have inside at USS.

i can tell you that they have a theme park comparable to Disneyland HK 🙂

inside USS you will find themed features/attractions according to different locations in the park.

what are the different themed locations/zones in USS you might ask.

well, they have 7 “seven” – YES!! different themed zones in USS:

  1. Hollywood
  2. New York
  3. Sci-Fi City
  4. Ancient Egypt
  5. The lost World
  6. Far Far Away
  7. Madagascar

i will guide you all thru almost all the different themed zones in USS and also the rides/attractions they have. so first up..

Hollywood

After entering the entrance of USS, you will be magically transported to Hollywood Boulevard with all its architecture, palm trees and the famous Walk of Fame.

you will feel as if you have landed in the center of the entertainment universe as many people are flashing away their camera at everyone/anyone/anything/everything 🙂

makes you feel like a superstar 🙂

Well, Hollywood is filled with 6 retail outlets that offers a large variety of merchandise from all seven zones. this is also where you can also purchase cameras, lenses, film and a wide variety of electronic products (for those poor-souls that came unprepared).

i suggest that its best you all do your shopping as you are about to leave or anytime in other 6 zones, as they have merchandise shops there as well 🙂

Guess who we saw here 🙂

and not forgetting the vy vy vy sexy:

after all the star-gazing…..well, the must place to go in Hollywood would be:
Pantages Hollywood Theater™
Featuring a 1,500-seat indoor theatre fully equipped to host major Broadway musicals, come watch the infamous Universal Classic Monsters in “Monster Rock” — a rock-n-roll style revue.
its a must watch as you will see all “classic” monsters performing rock songs – and i dare say ” they really ROCK”!!
next up..as i walk pass the borders of Hollywood, the song – empire state of mind came pooping into my head..

“New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There’s nothin’ you can’t do
Now you’re in New York
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you
Let’s hear it for New York, New York,
New York

As i stroll along the sidewalks and enjoy all the classic landmarks, i can actually feel NY with its skylines, neon lights, and facades that set the scenes for big city fun and real-time movie production.

the must place to go in New York would be:
Lights, Camera, Action™: Hosted By Steven Spielberg
Steven Spielberg is the King of SFX 🙂
Be blown away by the filmmaker’s incredible special effects as an empty soundstage becomes the setting for a major hurricane about to hit New York City. its damn real i tell you!!! front row people – prepare to feel the elements at its full force 🙂
Next up will be Sci – Fi City

the home of Battlestar Galactica™ 🙂

which is the the world’s tallest pair of dueling roller coasters will propel thrill-seekers on several inversions, a zero-g roll, a cobra roll, corkscrews, vertical loops and near collisions mere centimeters apart >> too bad its still closed 😦

another shot of the menacing Human and Cylon..will go again if i hv the chance and ride this baby 🙂

Battlestar Galactica aint the only attraction in Sci – Fi City, but it showcases the city of the future, today. You can also see a vibrant metropolis with all the ultimate modern conveniences.

Based on the Movie The Mummy (a 1999 American adventure film written and directed by Stephen Sommers and starring Brendan Fraser)..i welcome thee to Ancient Egypt

all you can see here are Ancient pyramids and obelisks stand fast against the sands of time.
feels like being transported to 1930’s Egypt, the Golden Age of Egyptian Exploration.
Pharaohs tombs were discovered- and their terrible curses unleashed…hope NOT!!
as you walk around…and take photos with all the Egyptians and also Medjai’s..
you will come to the gates of the must place to go in Ancient Egypt would be:
Revenge of the Mummy™
A high-speed psychological thrill ride through sharp turns, full rotation and fast reverse, you’ll be fighting against fiery fireballs, flesh-eating scarab beetles and an army of merciless warrior mummies — all in total darkness.
*warning – those with a faint heart and is scared of the Mummy (or your mom also can), you will expect the unexpected 🙂
after a long day of walking and snapping photos..its time for lunch..you will be spoilt for choices as there are many selection of F&B options, where there is something for everyone…i wont go into the F&B now but a later note at the end of the blog will touch on it..

The Lost World™

1st thing that came to mind is – Jurassic Park!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

into two themed areas: Jurassic Park™ and WaterWorld™, this zone is for fans of the two blockbuster movies (like me), where i experience a dense tropical forest where dinosaurs lurk, then watch death defying stunts filled with thrills and spills!

this was taken at Discovery Center (yes it looks exactly like in the movies) – a food court 🙂

the must place to go in the Lost World would be:

  1. Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure – Featuring a white water raft system, thrill-seekers on circular rafts will be tossed on waterways within the Jurassic Park compound, where prehistoric creatures roam free. it transports you into the movie where everything is an experience 🙂
  2. WaterWorld – Based on the blockbuster film, WaterWorld™, witness a tidal wave of death-defying stunts, awesome explosions and thrills at this sensational live water show.
A note for both : YOU WILL GET WET!!!!!

“Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far, away…

we visit a green ogre that has always enjoyed living in peaceful solitude in his swamp

hahahahha!!! as comical as the movie Shrek, the land of Far Far Away showcases lifestyles of the rich and fairy-taled.

its filled with fire breathing dragons..maidens in distress and some short midgets running around 😛

and they also have a castle 🙂

you might and will be distracted wit all the fairy-tale feel and photo taking..do remember the must place to go in the Far Far Away would be:

  1. Shrek 4-D Adventure™ – One of the best 4D show 🙂 it will take you into the alternative story of Shrek where we help save Princess Fiona in a totally in-your-face fairy tale adventure. Through the miracle of OgreVision you’ll see, hear, and actually FEEL the action right from my seat
  2. Donkey Live™ – The ever noisy sidekick,  Donkey is in this all-new interactive live show, where you will need to sing along and even talk with Donkey (annoying -but in a good way) in an intimate theatre setting.

Yes… next up is the magical land of Madagascar 🙂

Based on the movie, Madagascar, this zone brings you to a dense tropical jungle, filled with strange and wonderful animals like lemurs and foosas. Bird calls and monkey screeches fill the air as you journey deeper into the equatorial rain forests of this African Island and there is lots of photo session..when the time is right 🙂

Psychotic penguins…

and also…the King of the Jungle Himself – Alex!!!!

but too bad the place that is worth going is not operating yet (when i was in HK Ocean Park i have experienced it before..should be the same and a NOT TO MISS):

Madagascar: A Crate Adventure
Join Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria on a river boat adventure complete with state-of-the-art animated figures, digital projection, evocative sound, and moving show-action effects that create a one-of-a-kind, immersive ride experience.
As evening grew..we went back to ViVo city to have dinner..and we came back to USS for….night photography
..shopping for souvenirs (which is for me..hmmm)
and also FIREWORKS!!!
At 9:30pm there is the Lake Hollywood Spectacular… an incredible new pyrotechnics show set to a brilliant musical score that will burst across the night sky right in front of you (Fridays & Saturdays 9.30pm – Tix price at SGD$ 5 from 7pm – 10pm)
here are some shots 😛 (paiseh cz no tripod & shaky hands)
*would love to come again well prepared this time
As a summary.. YES ITS WORTH GOING AGAIN!!! would love to visit again, well prepared this time with proper camera equipment and when all rides are open 🙂

For me, i think USS is the same or equally as good as HK Disneyland i visited last year.  but with some differences in:
  1. Food – HK has a wider spread of food compared to USS
  2. Weather – HK has cooler weather (also depends on when you go), while USS is tropical weather (hot, humid & wet-rain)
  3. Crowd – better crowd control in USS
  4. Service level – this is where i feel USS should improve more (not to say its not good, better then some places but..there is room for improvement), HK showed me more churpy, bubbly, friendly and enthusiastic ops personnel all across the theme park.
  5. Photo opportunity – USS provides more places and interesting props to take photos as compared to HK
